As a technical leader in clinical applications, applies advanced professional concepts and extensive industry knowledge to lead and / or work on medium to large projects of broad scope and complexity. May be recognized expert of an area of focus of business in clinical applications. In alignment with UCSF Health’s Strategic Plan, UCSF made a strategic decision to advance UCSF’s commitment to the Epic Community Affiliate program. This program allows UCSF to extend our substantial investment in Epic to other hospitals and clinics in Northern California. UCSF has fostered significant clinical care relationships with other health care organizations, creating a network that builds continuity of care across UCSF and the broader community. The Community Affiliate program provides a shared clinical record that will improve care coordination and smooth transitions between patient care locations. Additionally, it allows for better continuity and more appropriate treatment for the patient while lowering costs through elimination of duplicative services across multiple settings. This role is accountable to Community Affiliates and will be an integral team member in delivering the services and support. This position will be working at various locations both at UCSF and Community Affiliate locations. The APeX Application Analyst will primarily be responsible for developing, supporting, and maintaining Epic's Professional Billing and Claims applications. They work under the direction of the Team Lead and/or Manager to configure, build & install the application. They coordinate all issues that arise during the project for their application area. Key operational activities include primary responsibility to analyze work flows and understand policies, procedures and constraints of the clinical or business operations support by the application. In depth and precise investigation and documentation of operational specifications and application functionality is required. Key technical activities include the analysis of new releases to determine how workflow should be modified, building and populating databases and tables during initial system configuration, conducting system testing and conversion data validation. The application analyst develops and documents internal procedures and establishes change control processes for the application. Develops/design advance/complex programs and guides their develop with members of a cross functional team Works independently and in consultation with team lead and/or manager Application expertise to define “integrated” system design requirements and develop/implement complex application components Able to negotiate scope/approach with team, end users and IT infrastructure partners Principal contact for resolution of complex integrated issues and/or solutions The APeX Application Analyst will primarily be responsible for developing, supporting, and maintaining Epic's Professional Billing and Claims applications. Department Overview Clinical Systems and Health Informatics are responsible for all aspects of the clinical and business software applications of UCSF Health hospitals, practices, affiliates, and community partners. This includes the Electronic Health Record (APeX), which supports the clinical, revenue cycle, and clinical operational functions of the health system and its affiliates, and approximately 95 other software applications involved in patient care and operations. Qualifications:
Required Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in health care information technology, computer science, or related area, and / or equivalent combination of experience / training. - 5 – 7 years related clinical applications experience or equivalent combination of education, training and experience. - Epic Professional Billing Certification - Broadly encompassing or highly In-depth knowledge of 1-2 areas of focus in clinical applications specialty area(s). Knowledge of operations, systems and functions, including planning, design, development, implementation, user support and training, maintenance, quality assurance, and system testing and evaluation. - Ability to apply advanced problem-resolution skills to highly complex issues, quickly diagnose problems, and develop, test, and implement appropriate and effective solutions in a timely manner. - Advanced interpersonal communication skills to effectively train, support, and collaborate productively with clinical users and key stakeholders at all professional and technical levels. - Advanced organizational and project management skills, and ability to lead a team, prioritize tasks, and see projects through from inception to completion on schedule. - Advanced written and verbal communications skills, to convey highly-technical information and instructions to all levels of clinical users and staff in a specific, clear, and concise manner. - Advanced analytical skills and expertise in documentation and reporting, with the ability to apply metrics, plan and implement testing systems, collect and analyze performance data, and produce substantive reports and analyses for management use. - Advanced ability to serve as a technical leader and information resource, and to work collaboratively with key personnel and management, providing guidance and recommendations on systems, improvements, upgrades, and industry advances and trends.
