Job Description:
The Web Platforms and Digital Experience Manager oversee the planning, development, and management of websites and web services supporting UCSF programs, projects, and institutional initiatives. The role is responsible for coordinating website structure, layout, functionality, and integration with backend systems or enterprise platforms as needed, including the incorporation of multimedia, interactive features, and informational content. The position collaborates with campus departments and stakeholders to guide website development, content publishing, and digital standards while facilitating the effective use of UCSF web platforms and hosting services, ensuring websites meet organizational goals and follow best practices for usability, accessibility, and governance. Leads the evaluation and adoption of emerging web and digital technologies, including AI-enabled tools and automation capabilities, to improve digital experiences, streamline operations, enhance accessibility, and support UCSF's digital transformation objectives. Receives broad objectives for managing and advancing UCSF’s web services and determines the appropriate strategies, priorities, and resource allocation to meet organizational goals and timelines. Leads planning and implementation of website initiatives, platform improvements, and content strategy efforts, ensuring alignment with institutional standards, accessibility requirements, and digital best practices. Provides guidance and oversight to web staff and distributed content contributors, reviewing and approving recommendations related to web platforms, site structure, and digital experience improvements. Decisions and recommendations impact the quality, reliability, and effectiveness of UCSF’s web presence; ineffective decisions may result in delays to web initiatives, reduced service quality, or increased operational costs. UCSF IT provides education, research, and health technology services, along with shared infrastructure, security, analytics, application, and customer support services, and is essential to the organization’s ability to support growth, mitigate security risk, and manage, store and share sensitive information.

Qualifications:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS - Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, communications, digital media, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience and training. - Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible experience in web services, digital platforms, website management, or related technical/digital communications roles. - Minimum 2 years of experience supervising or leading staff, project teams, or distributed contributors. - Experience managing or supporting enterprise or organizational websites using content management systems (CMS) and modern web technologies. - Demonstrated experience managing web projects including planning, implementation, and ongoing support of web platforms or digital services. - Demonstrated knowledge of web accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG), usability principles, and digital best practices. - Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate with stakeholders across technical and non-technical teams. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - Master’s degree in computer science, data science, information technology, digital communications, information science or a related field. - Experience managing enterprise or large-scale institutional websites, preferably in a higher education, healthcare, or research environment. - Experience developing or implementing web governance, content strategy, or digital experience frameworks. - Familiarity with University of California or UCSF policies, procedures, and administrative systems. - Experience managing web hosting environments, cloud-based web services, or enterprise web platforms. - Experience using web analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics or similar) to evaluate site performance and guide digital improvements. - Experience managing vendors, contracts, or service agreements related to web platforms or digital services. - Familiarity with IT service management frameworks (e.g., ITIL) or similar service delivery models. - Experience evaluating, implementing, or managing AI-enabled technologies, automation solutions, or digital innovation initiatives related to web platforms, content management, analytics, accessibility, or user experience. - Knowledge of emerging AI technologies and their application to digital experience, web content management, accessibility, analytics, and operational efficiency.
