Job Description
UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital is recognized throughout the world as a leader in health care, known for innovation, technology and compassionate care. UCSF has one of the top children's hospitals in the nation, ranked #7 in Neonatology by U.S. News & World Report in 2025. Our 180-bed UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital has more than 150 specialists in more than 40 areas of medicine.
The Intensive Care Nursery (ICN) at BCH San Francisco was founded in 1964 and pioneered fetal surgery and is a 58-bed unit that provides care for critically ill newborns and infants. The Newborn ICU (NICU) at BCH Oakland is a 43-bed department. Both the ICN and the NICU have the expertise to treat the smallest, sickest and most fragile babies needing surgery for heart, lung, gastrointestinal and other life-threatening conditions. Our neonatal heart program is one of the largest in the country, treating almost 200 newborns with heart disease each year. Both units are Regional Intensive Care Nurseries and work with an extensive network of hospitals in Northern California to provide neonatology care.
The Nurse Practitioner will act as a member of the care team, taking primary responsibility for the safe delivery of care for inpatient newborns and infants. This team member will meet productivity expectations as set forth by the Division Chief, performing any duties related to patient care activities that are appropriate and clearly delineated.
