Registered Nurse

Job Description

The Clinical Research Nurse will work independently to support studies in the Human Imaging Core and the Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging. The incumbent will be responsible for all aspects of nursing care for research and clinical patients who are being evaluated on radiology scanners and/or participating in research studies conducted by or in conjunction with the Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging. 
 * Utilizes the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide safe care to patients within the department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging
 * Functions as a member of the interdisciplinary team including nurses, technologists, physicians, scientists, research coordinators, graduate students, pharmacists, and lab technicians from within radiology as well as other departments across UCSF
 * Carries out established nursing procedures and performs related duties as required
 * Carries out research duties as required including maintaining integrity of protocol implementation, accurate data collection and coordination, and coordination with other research staff to ensure continuity of care of participants
 * Ensures patients are safely screened for radiology procedures including MRI and Nuclear Medicine scans
 * Provides clear and detailed education to patients regarding their procedures and any necessary prep instructions 
 * Provides direction to other team members regarding patient safety and protocol adherence 
 * Maintains knowledge of a wide array of research protocols, particularly in regards to nursing tasks and patient safety
