>ents in the Urology Faculty Practice, Redwood Shores. Work includes a variety of personal care and n 
>ursing procedures, including assuring positive care outcomes. The Medical Assistant performs assigne 
>d patient care and laboratory procedures in support of the specialty care services provided to patie 
>nts within the practices and is required to learn and assist in the Urology Procedure Center. The po 
>sition requires adherence to the Telephone and House Standards adopted by the Medical Center and fle 
>xibility to work at any UCSF campus as needed and scheduled. Key Responsibilities: Perform routine c 
>linical functions and document in the patient chart, including vital signs, height, weight, pain scr 
>eening, and chief complaints. Document use of interpreters as appropriate and work with interpreting 
> services to facilitate participation in medical appointments in person, by phone, or by video when  
>available. Assist nurses, providers, and patients in preparation for exams and procedures. Complete  
>appropriate competencies to perform or assist with procedures required for the department specialty, 
> including: Perform sterile processing procedures in the outpatient clinic, such as Cidex OPA, and m 
>aintain appropriate logs. Clean and prepare instruments for transport to the sterile processing depa 
>rtment. Transport instruments to the sterile processing department. Assist in complex medical proced 
>ures. Act as a chaperone as needed for medical providers. Work as an internal float for the departme 
>nt as requested by the supervisor. Transport patients as directed and ensure their safety. Monitor p

>ance authorizations for medications. Perform clinical activities accurately and in a timely manner.  
>Assist physician staff in writing and sending patient communications. Comply with Ambulatory Service 
>s and Medical Center policies and procedures for infection control, safety, administrative practice, 
> and clinical practice, including activities mandated by JCAHO/Title 22. Ensure medication cabinets  
>remain locked at all times. Demonstrate courtesy, common sense, and follow-through in telephone comm 
>unications while maintaining Medical Center Telephone Standards. Maintain a professional and helpful 
> working environment by upholding the House Standards adopted by the Medical Center. Notify provider 
>s of patient delays and service issues and help facilitate provider punctuality to maintain optimal  
>clinic schedules. Communicate provider delays with the front office team and make announcements to p 
>atients in waiting or exam rooms as needed when delays exceed 30 minutes. Share pertinent informatio

5Required Qualifications: - One year of experience as a Medical Assistant/Hospital Assistant in a med4 
>ical practice. - Current American Heart Association CPR Certification. - Willingness to support both 
> adult and pediatric patients; prior pediatric experience is not required. - Flexibility to orient a 
>nd work at all UCSF Medical Center locations. Preferred Qualifications: - .Certification from an app 
>roved Medical Assistant program.
