2The Athletic Trainer (AT) will work primary out of the Orthopaedic Institute on the Mission Bay Camp
>us of UCSF. The position entails a clinical component of physician support, an outreach component of

>events. Clinically, the employee will spend time in a specialty clinic assisting with the day-to-day 
> operations. The AT will be asked to room patients, assist in the patient intake process, and pull u 
>p any necessary records relevant to the patient visit. The AT will also provide physician support by 
> assisting with patient education and post-operative procedures as requested. Other responsibilities 
> include assisting with the daily administration of clinic duties, and other tasks as assigned. Outr

> injuries including inpatient and outpatient surgical care, rehabilitation, and orthotics and prosth 
>etics. Our physicians have specific training and experience in a broad range of orthopaedic specialt 
>ies such as sports medicine, trauma, replacement, pediatrics, oncology, spine, shoulder and elbow, f 
>oot and ankle, and hand. The Department is internationally recognized for its work in patient care,  
>education, and research. Our basic and translational research programs focus on cartilage and disc r 
>egeneration, fracture healing, molecular and stem cell biology, bioengineering, and musculoskeletal  
>development.

5Required Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in a related field. • Thorough knowledge of athletic inj4 
>ury prevention and the administration of therapeutic modalities, devices, and rehabilitation techniq 
>ues. • Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a multidisciplinary team. • Strong written and 
> oral communication skills. • Excellent time management and organizational skills. • Thorough knowle 
>dge of medical terminology appropriate to job responsibilities. • Excellent interpersonal and commun 
>ication skills to interact effectively with a diverse patient population. • Strong proficiency with  
>Microsoft Office programs. • Project management experience. • Ability to provide first responder car 
>e at athletic events. • Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality when handling sensitive m 
>atters involving athletic injuries and treatments. • Recent experience in sports medicine, event cov 
>erage, and/or first responder care of high school athletes or beyond. • Minimum of 2 years of educat 
>ion and/or experience in the athletic training field. Preferred Qualifications • Advanced degree in  
>a related field. • Strong manual therapy skills applicable to orthopedics and sports medicine. • For 
> positions associated with Sports Medicine, current knowledge of applicable rules and standards of t 
>he affiliated athletic conference, National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), National Associa 
>tion of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), California Interscholastic Federation (CIF), and other ass 
>ociations and agencies to which the campus adheres. • Previous experience working in a clinical sett 
>ing with physicians and office assistants. Required Licenses/Certifications • Current and active Ath 
>letic Trainer Certification (ATC) in good standing with the Board of Certification, Inc. • Current A 
>merican Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR certification. 
5 Outreach for the AT consists of providing on-site care for high school athletes. They will work ind
