>are Unit (PICU) at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital provides extraordinary high-level care for child 
>ren who require continuous monitoring. The unit has 20 beds for infants and children suffering from  
>a variety of conditions or recovering from surgery. More than 1,000 children per year are admitted i 
>nto the intensive care units at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital arriving via ambulance, helicopter  
>and airplane from throughout the western United States. The Pediatric Transitional Care Unit (TCUP)  
>is a 16-bed unit for infants and children suffering from a variety of conditions or recovering from  
>surgery. The TCU provides care to patients with a moderate to high complexity of disease such as tho 
>se recovering from solid organ transplantation, titration of anticoagulant therapy and other infusio 
>n, and post-operative specialty surgery care (ENT, neurosurgery).  Patients requiring respiratory su 
>pport including BIPAP, CPAP, high flow nasal cannula and patients requiring mechanical ventilation w 
>ith tracheostomy in place are also routinely admitted to the TCUP.  The Nurse Practitioner will act  
>as a full member of the team taking responsibility for the safe delivery of care in collaboration wi 
>th attending physicians, fellows and residents. This team member will meet productivity expectations 
> as set forth by the Division Chief, performing any duties related to patient care activities that a 
>re appropriate and clearly delineated. Nurse Practitioners on the PICU and TCUP Team provide care in 
> rotating 12h shifts. This per diem position includes holidays and weekends with the following MINIM 
>UM AVAILABILITY REQUIREMENTS: Four (4) shifts per eight (8) week schedule or ratio of 2 shifts per 4 
> weeks scheduled Weekend/Night Commitment: Must be available and willing to work at least 4 weekend  
>or 4 night shifts (Saturday or Sunday) per 8-week schedule. Holiday Commitment: Must be available to 
> work one major UCSF holiday and one non-Major UCSF holiday per year (includes the holiday and the d 
>ay before or after for a 2 day holiday period): Major UCSF Holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Ye

5Required Qualifications: - Graduation from a California Board of Registered Nursing approved or veri4 
>fied school of nursing with a master’s degree in nursing or a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP). - Mi 
>nimum of three (3) years PICU or Transitional Care Nurse Practitioner experience - Current practice  
>in Pediatric Critical and/or Transitional Care Preferred Qualifications: - Five (5) years of experie 
>nce working as an AC-PNP in a level III Pediatric Intensive Care Unit Licensure/Certifications: - Ca 
>lifornia Registered Nurse (RN) License without restriction - California Nurse Practitioner (NP) Lice 
>nse without restriction - California Nurse Practitioner Furnishing Number NP national board certific 
>ation from an accepted certifying agency aligned with the patient population and clinical role - Ped 
>iatric Inpatient (CPNP-AC). See Addendum A below for more detail. - California Driver License (if re 
>quired for position) - Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Registration with Schedules 2, 2N, 3, 3 
>N, 4, and 5 registered to a California address - American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support 
> (BLS) certification - Additional required AHA certifications: PALS - Additional required certificat 
>ions (such as ENLS): None UCSF Medical Center requires all Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) to be  
>credentialed through its Office of Medical Affairs and Governance (OMAG) to practice and function in 
> their clinical role. This applies to both adult and pediatric APPs in the inpatient and outpatient  
>clinical settings. Credentialing takes between 60-90 days and must be completed prior to the first w 
>orking day.
