>are Unit (PICU) at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital provides extraordinary high-level care for child 
>ren who require continuous monitoring. The unit has 20 beds for infants and children suffering from  
>a variety of conditions or recovering from surgery. More than 1,000 children per year are admitted i 
>nto the intensive care units at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital arriving via ambulance, helicopter  
>and airplane from throughout the western United States. The Pediatric Transitional Care Unit (TCUP)  
>is an 18-bed unit for infants and children suffering from a variety of conditions or recovering from 
> surgery. The TCU provides care to patients with a moderate to high complexity of disease such as th 
>ose recovering from solid organ transplantation, titration of anticoagulant therapy and other infusi 
>on, and post-operative specialty surgery care (ENT, neurosurgery).  Patients requiring respiratory s 
>upport including BIPAP, CPAP, high flow nasal cannula and patients requiring mechanical ventilation  
>with tracheostomy in place are also routinely admitted to the TCUP.  The Advanced Practice Provider  
>will act as a full member of the team taking responsibility for the safe delivery of care in collabo

5Required Qualifications: Graduation from a PA Program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commiss4 
>ion on Education for the PA (ARC-PA). - Physician Assistant:- Minimum of one (1) year of clinical ex 
>perience in Pediatric Critical Care unit - Sr. Physician Assistant - Minimum of five (5) years of cl 
>inical experience in a Pediatric Critical Care unit Licenses/Certifications: - California Physician  
>Assistant (PA) License without restriction - National Board Certification from the National Commissi 
>on on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) - California Driver License (if required for pos 
>ition) - Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Registration with Schedules 2, 2N, 3, 3N, 4, and 5 re 
>gistered to a California address - American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certifi 
>cation - Additional required AHA certifications: PALS - Additional required certifications (such as  
>ENLS): None UCSF Medical Center requires all Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) to be credentialed t 
>hrough its Office of Medical Affairs and Governance (OMAG) to practice and function in their clinica 
>l role. This applies to both adult and pediatric APPs in the inpatient and outpatient clinical setti 
>ngs. Credentialing takes between 60-90 days and must be completed prior to the first working day.
