>s and procedures of the Ambulatory Services, and in collaboration with the physician staff, the Clin 
>ical Nurse (CN) performs established nursing procedures using clinical knowledge to care for patient 
>s in a case manager model of care. The nurse provides excellent clinical care, telephone advice, and 
> patient education to the Neurology patients. The CN will comply with the Medical Center house and T 
>elephone Standards. he CN is accountable for his/her own practice and has primary responsibility for 
> utilizing nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of safe patient  
>care in the outpatient clinical setting. S/he carries out established nursing procedures and perform 
>s related duties as required and performs nursing care for patients with complex needs. CN is recogn 
>ized as a leader and clinical resource and demonstrates investment in the overall forward movement o 
>f the practice and organization. CN serves as resource for all clinical staff and initiates and part 
>icipates in patient and staff education. The Clinical Nurse must have the ability to perform and pri 
>oritize multiple tasks and work well with staff, patients, and providers.  A high degree of independ 
>ence, initiative, assertiveness, and diplomacy are necessary in dealing with faculty, staff, and pat 
>ients in a complex environment.  S/he works with physician leadership in setting and accomplishing a 
>nnual goals.  S/he works with staff to develop, monitor and maintain systems pertaining to all aspec 
>ts of nursing care for the practice.  The clinical nurse ensures a safe environment for patients and 
> staff. The clinical nurse is responsible for providing direct nursing care to patients in the Clini 
>c. Duties include but not limited to, triage of phone calls, completing the requested tasks in APeX  
>messages, reconstitution of medications.  The clinical nurse provides education to patients regardin 
>g their illnesses and education for procedure preparation and procedure related questions and educat 
>ion regarding patient medications. The nurse responds to patient questions regarding medication dose 
>s and side effects; he/she informs patients about normal/routine pathology and laboratory results, p 
>erforms injections, teaching of injectable medications;; facilitates completion of disability forms, 
> work letters and will assist the faculty and staff in securing authorizations for tests and treatme 
>nts.

5Required qualifications: - Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of California - Curr4 
>ent American Heart Association CPR Certification - Two (2) or more years of recent Ambulatory RN exp 
>erience back-office setting - Knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of the d 
>uties assigned to this position - Demonstrates evidence of basic analytic thinking necessary to care 
> for a group of complex patients such as oncology and a high degree of attention to detail - Must de 
>monstrate observational skills and the ability to set priorities. Ability to function independently  
>and effectively with shifting priorities and considerable pressure - Must be able to function under  
>stress and with strong interpersonal and communication skills - Must demonstrate effective skills in 
> applying hospital standards in area of service, team work, communication, respect for others, and t
