>he direct supervision of The Dermatopathology and Oral Pathology Service Histology Supervisor, the i 
>ncumbent provides technical and clerical support to the histology laboratory. The incumbent is famil 
>iar with a lab department’s administrative processes including receiving specimens for accessioning  
>and how to navigate data information system to retrieve patient demographics, clinical and gross des 
>criptions.  Mainly, they complete laboratory administrative duties including but not limited to prin 
>t and organize slides and slide labels, QC slide send-outs, file slides, blocks and department paper 
>work.  They are comfortable with general laboratory PPE procedures and performing routine laboratory 
> maintenance.  As needed, the incumbent can handle and safely dispose of chemical, biological and oc 
>casionally sharps waste and can maintain general histology equipment (cassette printer, tissue proce 
>ssor, embedding unit, H/E stainer, etc). They also maintain the readiness and order of specified wor 
>k areas and performs other projects as directed by the histology supervisor, pathologists’, and depa 
>rtment manager.

t4Qualifications:t3 Under the direct supervision of The Dermatopathology and Oral Pathology Service Histology Superviso
 >r, the incumbent provides technical and clerical support to the histology laboratory.
5Required Qualifications: - Graduation from college with a major in an applicable natural science; or4 
> two years of college courses (including courses in natural sciences) plus 4 or more years of applic 
>able experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. - A minimum of 2 years in 
> a high production laboratory setting. - Excellent problem solving, interpersonal and situational aw 
>areness skills - Excellent verbal and written communication skills - Must be able to prioritize task 
>s effectively and complete tasks in a timely manner with minimum supervision Preferred Qualification 
>s: - Bachelors, or associates degree preferred with 2 years of experience in pathology or a related  
>medical field. - Must be able to set priorities according to situation and perform all work with tho 
>roughness, efficiency and with a minimum of supervision. - Must be proficient with MS Office Suite a 
>nd possess the ability to adapt to new computer and information systems within a timely manner. - Re 
>sponsible for knowing and complying with all applicable infection control, health and safety policie 
>s, and procedures as implemented by the department and/or work unit. - Maintains timely and construc 
>tive communications with the supervisor and other affected persons regarding problems related to the 
> work area. - Adheres to all other institutional and departmental policies and procedures. - Knowled 
>ge of dermatopathology and oral pathology material handling is greatly preferred.
