>are Unit (PICU) at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital provides extraordinary high-level care for child 
>ren who require continuous monitoring. The unit has 20 beds for infants and children suffering from  
>a variety of conditions or recovering from surgery. More than 1,000 children per year are admitted i 
>nto the intensive care units at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital arriving via ambulance, helicopter  
>and airplane from throughout the western United States. The Pediatric Transitional Care Unit (TCUP)  
>is a 18-bed unit for infants and children suffering from a variety of conditions or recovering from  
>surgery. The TCU provides care to patients with a moderate to high complexity of disease such as tho 
>se recovering from solid organ transplantation, titration of anticoagulant therapy and other infusio 
>n, and post-operative specialty surgery care (ENT, neurosurgery).  Patients requiring respiratory su 
>pport including BIPAP, CPAP, high flow nasal cannula and patients requiring mechanical ventilation w 
>ith tracheostomy in place are also routinely admitted to the TCUP.  The Nurse Practitioner will act  
>as a full member of the team taking responsibility for the safe delivery of care in collaboration wi 
>th attending physicians, fellows and residents. This team member will meet productivity expectations 
> as set forth by the Division Chief, performing any duties related to patient care activities that a

5Required qualifications: - Graduation from a California Board of Registered Nursing recognized Nurse4 
> Practitioner Program with a master’s or doctoral degree aligned with an Acute Care Pediatric Nurse  
>Specialization - Nurse Practitioner 1:- Minimum of two (2) years of recent experience working as an  
>RN in a Pediatric ICU setting - Nurse Practitioner 2: - Minimum of two (2) years of Nurse Practition 
>er experience in a pediatric inpatient or emergency department setting AND minimum of two (2) years  
>inpatient RN experience in pediatric critical or transitional/intermediate care Preferred qualificat 
>ions: - Minimum of three (3) years of experience working as an AC-PNP in a level III Pediatric Inten 
>sive Care Unit Licenses/Certifications: - California Registered Nurse (RN) License without restricti 
>on - California Nurse Practitioner (NP) License without restriction - California Nurse Practitioner  
>Furnishing Number NP national board certification from an accepted certifying agency aligned with th 
>e patient population and clinical role - Pediatric Inpatient (CPNP-AC). See Addendum A below for mor 
>e detail. - California Driver License (if required for position) - Drug Enforcement Administration ( 
>DEA) Registration with Schedules 2, 2N, 3, 3N, 4, and 5 registered to a California address - America 
>n Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification - Additional required AHA certifica 
>tions: PALS - Additional required certifications (such as ENLS): None
